Make POP PROMOTION GREAT AGAIN!
There's something to be said about the word... 'relationships...'
Since before NSYNC played a sold out show at Hersheypark Stadium, I've had a relationship, which became a friendship, which became a family-type-sort-of-thing with Joe Daddio.
Since that time, back before when Don Phillips did a duet with Britney Spears... we've managed, to me, develop this sort of tough love, brutal honesty, gut-level sort of frank honesty which stings when it needs to sting... which says what isn't politically correct but needs to be said... and has more times than I can count caused me to take a second, breathe, refocus and recenter, and then, get back into the ring of life...
... not just professionally... but personally.
With nacho dip, btw. And wings from Hard Times. And meatballs.
We've got stories we could tell which would last for days. We've had adventures... moments... we've made memories which are the stuff of legend, not because we set out to do anything over the top... but because we've lived how we've lived, through countless moments in this life... which has made the most of this life we've been so blessed to have been given... to live.
For example...
I remember when I was in Tampa... I needed to cut through the clutter of some sort of industry stuff... I don't remember what the single was... or who the artist was... I just know when we needed to get to the bottom of whatever, I knew I could turn to you, Joe, to get the real deal... and we did...
Getting to work with you... Bobbi Silver... legendary people in our game... again... was one of the most exciting things about coming back to the region after leaving back in the day. Who knew when I came to HOT that life would continue to write the story that continues to be written even to this day.
I've known when I've needed to have my head checked, as a dad, in life, in relationships... ln how my life has been changing, lately, I can turn to you, Joe, to get the real deal... even if I may not like the fallout of the truth-bombs you might drop... should I need to hear from 'em.
Joe Daddio is the real deal. Not just in business. But in life. He's as real as they come. Even if he's a Jets fan. But even then, he's the real deal because even now... he's still a Jets fan... and that's not very popular given the state of the team during this new NFL season.
The real deal... isn't always popular. But it is always... real. And that's what IT is all about.
From media mavens... to Porsches in Connecticut... to casino nights to football Sundays... from Jets bars to Nats games... to nights in Lancaster, Pennsylvania... to Jets bars... we've got, to paraphrase Steve Jobs and the Beatles... "Memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead..."
It's your birthday. I hope it's been amazing. I'm proud of the man you are, the dad you continue to become, the professional you are... and I'm thankful for the friend and confidant you've become and continue to be.
