Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has announced that she is signing series of orders to reform the use of force in the Atlanta Police Department.

The new orders will require Atlanta police officers to first use de-escalation tactics before the use physical or deadly force. Officers who use deadly force will be required to report it to the city's citizen review board.

Officers will also be required to step in if another officer is using force over "which is beyond reasonable in the given services"
