Georgia COVID-19 cases surpass 1,800 in one day, largest increase to date

This past Saturday, June 20, 2020, the Georgia Department of Public Health reported Georgia's largest increase in COVID-19 cases, surpassing the previously recorded largest daily increase on April 17, 2020. At the same time, testing also went up drastically this past Saturday, potentially explaining the increase of confirmed cases.

Over 24,000 tests were administered which is more than double Georgia's daily average of testing this month. The daily numbers of confirmed cases reported this past Saturday show roughly 1,800 cases in a single day, jumping from 62,009 confirmed cases to 63,809. Gwinnett County continues to be a hot spot for the virus with a whopping 85 new cases this past Saturday, with Paudling County also trending up over the past five days.
