Billy Baldwin's family has had a difficult year. The 56-year-old actor revealed his teenage son, Vance, secretly battled cancer. In an emotional post on Instagram, Baldwin praised his 17-year-old son's "courage, strength, and bravery" while he underwent treatment.
"A year ago today my son Vance was diagnosed with cancer... he was 16 years old. He kept it very quiet...we all did," Baldwin began his emotional post. "He went through 28 rounds of chemo yet stayed VERY positive, focused and kept his life as normal as possible... every single day."
Baldwin’s post included screenshots of his son’s own Instagram post, which shared his cancer diagnosis publicly for the first time. In Vance's own post, he revealed he's been “clear for months now.”
Neither Baldwin or his son disclosed what type of cancer Vance was diagnosed with. Instead, their family focused on celebrating his remission. Baldwin also thanked everybody who helped them during this challenging time his family's lives. "So much love [and] gratitude for how all his boys, teachers, coaches, parents... the whole SB community stepped up for him during this difficult time," he wrote. "Your love, kindness & support definitely helped get him/ us through this difficult time."
Baldwin has been married to Wilson Phillip's singer Chynna Phillips since 1995. In addition to Vance, they are parents to two daughters Jameson and Brooke.
