NY Governor Andrew Cuomo warned that local officials in Southampton, NY could be held civilly or criminally liable for Saturday's Chainsmokers' charity concert. The New York Post reports that in a Tuesday call with reporters, Cuomo reiterated his Monday tweet that he was "appalled" with what happened. The concert was "gross violation of not only the public health rules, it was a gross violation of common sense. It was grossly disrespectful to fellow New Yorkers," said Cuomo Tuesday.
Video of the Saturday night concert showed people standing closer than six feet. Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman's band performed along with the Chainsmokers that night and says that he reviewed aerial footage and that people seemed to follow the guidelines for most of the show. "At the very end of the event they deviated and that’s unfortunate," he said. Schneiderman said that the organizers were to blame for the clusters of fans, but organizers say that every half hour fans were reminded to stay socially distant and were offered hand sanitizer and masks.
