iPhone May Soon Be Forced to Ditch Their Charging Port

Apple Holds Press Event To Introduce New iPhone

European lawmakers have voted to make all phone manufacturers to use a universal charging port in their devices. This will effectively force Apple to ditch their Lightning charging port that they've been using on iPhone since 2012.

European Parliament voted 582 to 40 in favor of a "common charger for mobile radio equipment" on Thursday.

Now the motion will go to the European Commission to adopt the law by July meaning the next iPhone could see a different charging port, at least in Europe.
