Taylor Swift Documentary 'Miss Americana' To Open Sundance Film Festival

When Taylor Swift spoke about her ongoing issues with former label, Big Machine Records, and Scooter Braun, she also prematurely announced an upcoming Netflix documentary. Weeks later, the film’s official announcement has been revealed.

On Wednesday (December 4), the streaming service announced that their original documentary titled Taylor Swift: Miss Americana is set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2020. The doc, which was directed by Emmy winner Lana Wilson and produced by Academy Award winner Morgan Nevill, in collaboration with Tremolo Production, is sold as a "raw and emotionally revealing look at one of the most iconic artists of our time, as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice." Among the other production credits for the film include Academy Award winner Caitrin Rogers and Christine O’Malle.

No set release date as been announced for the film's arrival on the platform, but a press release did indicate that Netflix will release it globally in early 2020.

In related Swift news, the pop titan took to Instagram on Thursday morning to announce that she is set to release a new Christmas song (and accompanying music video) this evening. "When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee," she captioned footage of her asking her cats when she should release the track, alongside the hashtag #ChristmasTreeFarm. "When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs... just put the song out anyway. NEW XMAS SONG AND VIDEO (made from home videos) OUT TONIGHT."
