If you were hoping to spoil a loved one on Christmas this year, it may cost you a pretty penny. According to PNC's 38th annual Christmas Price Index, which measures how much it will cost to purchase gifts from the classic holiday song, "The 12 Days of Christmas," inflation rates can be seen across the board. Apparently the 12 gifts have seen an increase of $41,205.58 or 5.7% since 2019. Of the gifts, the exotic pets (6 Geese-of-laying, 3 French Hens, 2 Turtle Doves) in the song saw the largest increase due high food and labor expenses to raise these beautiful birds. Gold is also much more expensive in 2021 seeing an 8.5% price increase since 2019 making those 5 Golden Rings approximately $900. However, the most expensive gift from the famous holiday song: Seven Swans-A-Swimming which will cost about $13,125! All 12 gifts in total will cost nearly $200K! I would say hit the Dollar Tree and buy 12 gifts for $12 but even the discount store is seeing steep inflation!
